The Certification Centre of the Latvian Academy of Sciences was established on 15 April 1994 as a substructure of the Academy with a legal status - Non-profit Company with Limited Liability (Ltd). Founders of the Centre are:
Organization of the Centre was initiated by two circumstances:
The scope and objectives of the Centre are described bellow.
Product certification – conformity assessment to safety and/or standards requirement and approval of conformity by certificate (type approval)
State authorised and notified to the European Commission certification body (Identification number 1327) in area of building products and construction works.
Notification to the European Commission empowers rights for CE marking of certified products and for recognition of documents issued by the notified body in all member states of the European Union.
Recognition of competence
Accredited by the Latvian Accreditation Bureau (LATAK) in the area of building product certification.
Participation in standards technical committees
Chairmanship and membership in following Standard Technical Committees of the Latvian National Standards Board – “Latvijas Standarts”:
Provision of training
